The Forbidden Island: Golden Egg Challenge

Well this is totally random. I was a bit bored, coming off from a long day at work, and had about one hour to spare with my kids before they washed up and turned in for bed.

I don’t really feel like doing board games that evening and they needed some exercise.

happy children playing games without screens

The board game Forbidden Island came to mind. In the game, players move from island to island trying to retrieve treasures before the island sinks.

So I thought — what if the island was the living room floor?

Chairs became tunnels.
Benches became strength stations.
Pickleball bats turned into jumping islands.

We immediately got into action, with the kids helping out with the lighter furniture.

And somehow the obstacle course kept evolving.
They added new challenges.
Changed the route.
Made the game their own.

Almost everything in the course was just ordinary furniture and floor space. (except my disc markers, which you can replace with cushions)
Nothing fancy.
But for a while the room turned into an island adventure.
